Hanoi City

Hanoi – the capital of Vietnam – is officially the Host City of Vietnam WSDC 2023. It is the second largest city and also the center of culture and politics in our country. We are ready for the world to come and visit our wonderful historical places and try tasty local dishes

Old Quarter – the heart of the Capital
This is the first place ever to visit Hanoi with all of the most characteristic features. Here, you can try our country-wide famous dishes such as ice cream at 35 Trang Tien Str. (near Hanoi Opera House), egg-creamed coffee at Giang – 39 Nguyen Huu Huan Str., beer and special street foods at Ta Hien Str., pho Cuong at 23 Hang Muoi Str., Banh Goi (near Hanoi Catholic Church) or watch a water puppet show, which all are no more than 1km from the Hoan Kiem Lake. There are city tour buses that take you to the main streets here, where you can enjoy the most “Hanoi” lives with traditional jobs like herb doctor and jeweler. This is also the best place to buy souvenirs for your families and friends.

  • Ba Dinh District

If Old Quarter is the cultural hub of Hanoi, Ba Dinh is known for its historical places. It may take you hours to visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, One-pillar Pagoda, Thang Long Citadel, etc. Please note to bring a camera because Hoang Dieu Str., West Lake., Tu Hoa alley, and Flower Valley, are the most picturesque places to visit in Hanoi. Westlake ice cream and Westlake swan pedalo are also must-try things when you come here. Before your fantastic ride there, the Temple of Literature and the Vietnam National Museum of Fine Arts are 2 near places that are worth visiting.

  • Hoa Lo Prison Relic – Long Bien Bridge

Hoa Lo Prison Relic is the next must-visit spot in our Capital (it can be translated as ‘Hell-hole Prison’). Here, you can listen to 35 different stories about the inflictions the French Colonist used to make on our political prisoners.

Long Bien Bridge is 2km away from Hoa Lo Prison Relic (on the way to the bridge, you should take a picture at Hang Dau Water Tank, another tourist attraction in our Capital). Long Bien Bridge is a famous colonial spot to visit. Not only enjoy the antique architecture and historic stories behind it, but visitors can also walk along the Ceramic Mosaic Mural Road and the Long Bien Market right under the bridge. It is also worth taking a visit to Dong Xuan Market and Long Bien Railway Station (not far from the bridge).

There are many other places that you can check on websites or contact the Organizing Committee to have more information. Please plan your visit to make it most time-effective and not affect the debates.
